Semere wins Jack Petchey Leader Award

We’re delighted to share that Semere Estifanos, Urban Synergy’s Work Experience & Events Officer, has been awarded the Jack Petchey Leader Award.

Semere has long been a driving force in delivering life-changing opportunities for young people. From guiding mentees on the Urban Synergy programme into top companies to supporting them through interviews and networking events, his impact is far-reaching.

Semere, seen here at the London Stock Exchange Group, has helped young people secure valuable work placements, including opportunities with HS2, the UK’s largest engineering project. One mentee even secured a full-time role following a summer placement, thanks to Semere’s encouragement and guidance.

A £1,000 grant from the Jack Petchey Foundation will also fund two projects:

  • Mock trial trip: Coach hire for 22 aspiring legal professionals aged 16–20, travelling from Lewisham to the University of Hertfordshire on 5 August 2025 for a mock trial experience.
  • Urban Synergy alumni hoodies: Providing 10 branded hoodies for alumni mentees who will represent the charity at fundraising events, support the team and connect with attendees.

We’re proud of Semere and grateful for the energy, dedication and support he continues to give to the next generation. Thank you, Semere, and thank you Jack Petchey Foundation.
