We were delighted to attend the Burberry British Diverstiy Awards on March 22nd and were honoured to have been shortlisted in the Charity of the Year category, for our outstanding contribution to promoting diversity and inclusion.
Dianne Johnson our Head of Programmes and Leila Thomas, CEO and Founder attended the event to represent the Urban Synergy Team, and were thrilled to see all the amazing work happening in the Diversity and Inclusion space, with many inspirational companies, charities and individuals.
At Urban Synergy we concentrate on equitable support and thought we have a strong focus on Race Equality, we understand that to have true inclusion, we have to work as a whole community, on the nine protected characteristics of diversity, which are:
- gender reassignment
- marriage or civil partnership (in employment only)
- pregnancy and maternity
- religion or belief
The British Diversity Awards promote the values of equality, diversity and inclusion by rewarding those individuals, organisations and unsung heroes who help to make the world and the workplace a better place for others. They featured diverse categories to reflect the different characteristics, and recoginised important leaders in the inclusion field.
Leila said, “It was wonderful to be included in this event and we are honoured to have been nominated. It was a joy to see old friends of Urban Synergy as well as make new connections and increase the Urban Synergy Network, that our young people can tap into. A heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and nominees!”
