Young people from underrepresented backgrounds remain critically underrepresented in STEM fields. By the time many leave school, they have often disengaged from subjects that could unlock their potential. At Urban Synergy, our STEM programmes for young people are designed to change that.
Since 2015, we’ve delivered workshops and seminars, starting with Big Dreams in STEM for Year 9 and 10 students in partnership with Thomson Reuters. Over the years, our programmes have expanded to include all-female seminars, mentoring, insight days, hands-on challenges, and hackathons, connecting students with professionals across science, technology, engineering, and maths. Highlights include Tech Insight Day with Salesforce and Women in STEM (SparkTech) AI workshops at the London Stock Exchange, where students gain skills, confidence, and real-world experience in STEM careers.
Through these STEM programmes for young people, Urban Synergy helps students see themselves in STEM careers, develop essential skills, and overcome barriers that might otherwise limit their opportunities.
