Earlier this year, Urban Synergy embarked on a pilot academic mentoring programme at Addey and Stanhope School, New Cross. Following an Academic Seminar in December last year, we were asked if our mentors could help a number of students with their studies. With the help of PA Consulting who kindly sponsored the programme, we were able to quickly match ten students with trained mentors with an aim to raise their exam grades in English, Mathematics and in general. Working to very tight deadlines and short timescales, we are delighted to say the mentees improved their grades in 30% of the GCSE’s taken.
At an Autumn event to celebrate exam successes, we were able to present awards to the star mentees who improved their results the most. Our thanks to Thomson Reuters who donated the two iPad Mini prizes.
