We were delighted that Leila Thomas our CEO and Founder, was featured in this year's official Black History Month Magazine in the UK. This year's official theme for BHM was Saluting our Sisters with the #WEMATTER Movement.

They chose this theme and said: "The theme of ‘Saluting our Sisters’ highlights the crucial role that black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. This year’s celebration will showcase pioneering black women who have made remarkable contributions to literature, music, fashion, sport, business, politics, academia, social and health care, and more.”

Leila has been inspiring change ever since she launched Urban Synergy and highlighting relatable role models to the young people we serve.

In the article, Leila said “I have always been fortunate to have a strong network of women around me encouraging me to pursue a meaningful career in Technology, but over the years, I realised many people in my community are not so fortunate. There is an overrepresentation of negative stereotypes in the press and limited access to positive role models illuminating career pathways for young people, so I set up Urban Synergy to bridge the gap and raise the aspirations for those young people”.

Leila created the Urban Synergy network and has been instrumental in teaching the young people we support to grow and nurture their networks to expose them to more opportunities in the workplace. She has often said Your network is your net worth.” which has inspired many young people to join LinkedIn and attend networking events, getting outside of their comfort zones and making new connections.
