Eleven Urban Synergy mentees gained valuable work experience with month-long internships at UK Power Networks this summer. As part of the DREAM programme, mentees also got to spend time with top management including CEO Basil Scarsella and Director of Network Operation Patrick Clarke.
The interns were based in different parts of the business including: Information Systems, UK Power Networks Services, Distribution Services Operations, Risk & Assurance, Human Resources and Health & Safety.
Who are UK Power Networks?
UK Power Networks is the UK's largest electricity distribution network operator, owning and maintaining the underground cables and overhead lines that deliver power to over 8.5 million homes and businesses in London, the East of England, and the South East of England.
UK Power Networks are also part of our Corporate Advisory Board.
How work experience benefited mentees
UKPN intern Praise said:

I gained confidence in analysing contracts, understanding legal terminology and delivering professional Powerpoint presentations in meetings. This internship has taught me more than just legal skills; it showed me the importance of communication, adaptability and asking the right questions. It also made me even more determined to secure a degree apprenticeship in law and use my career to make a difference to my family and community."
