We had the privilege of leading an insight day with FTSE Russell, an LSEG Business (London Stock Exchange Group) with 30 Year 12 students from Christ the King Sixth Form College (CTK), St Mary’s Campus, with the aim of decoding careers within the Benchmarking and Indices industry.
The students heard from Fiona Bassett, FTSE Russell CEO and Arne Staal, FTSE Russell Head of Product, allowing them to ask questions and hear about their career journeys and what FTSE Russell does.
In feedback, the students rated the day 4.7/5, and one student, Harrington, said, “I enjoyed listening to the mentors and all the information I gained from it. I especially liked how friendly the mentors were when it came to answering questions and how in-depth they went."
The young people met many role models from across the business and participated in workshops on job-hunting and empathic accuracy and negotiation, as well as learning the steps to join FTSE Russell in an Early Career Role. These workshops delivered key soft skills in communication, reading body language and presenting themselves from relatable role models who shared a path to follow.
I’m delighted to have hosted this insight day with Urban Synergy and the talented students from CTK. Events like this are essential to engage with the local community and show young people from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunities available to them at FTSE Russell.
