On Thursday 11th May, the sun shone as we held our annual Urban Synergy Charity Golf Day at The Shire in Barnet, London. It was a fun-packed day full of positive energy and drive.
We’d love to start with a huge thank you to our sponsors on the day, as without their support the day would not have been possible:

- And Boku, who empowers the new age of digital commerce in a mobile-first world, provided Silver sponsorship for the day.
It was an early start with golfers arriving to a warm breakfast and registration.
We had 18 teams from our Charity Day sponsors and companies including UK Power Networks, Salesforce, Stryker, WTW, FTI Consulting, Computacentre and The Black British Golfers Association.
They played 18 holes on the esteemed Seve Ballesteros course, which is notoriously difficult, with lots of water around. The teams' Tee’d off with a shotgun start, and the scores started rolling in on the live tracking app. It was a beautiful day, which was aided by the beautiful setting and natural wildlife found all around the course.
On the day we had some of our fantastic Alumni on hand volunteering and supporting the golfers. The Black British Golfers even arranged a golf lesson with The Shires’ coach to inspire them to take up golf. His careful advice showed immediate improvement for the young golfers!
There were additional games for the golfers including Nearest to the Pin, Longest drive and a team ball that couldn’t be lost, all of which raised additional money for Urban Synergy. We definitely put the Fun in Fundraising!
Following the game, we had a lovely three-course meal while the raffle and auction progressed!
We’d like to congratulate the Stryker team of Jake, Jason, Stuart and Michael who won 1st place and the EC1 team of Jamie, Lee, Mark and Dan who came in second place!
The amazing support of our golfers and sponsors has contributed around £15,000 towards our programmes, meaning we can continue to inspire, guide and ignite the ambitions of young people, supporting them to take their first steps into the world of work.
We heard back from one golfer who said “The US team made it so fun! Golf can be very stuffy, and you made it the best day.” as well as “I liked meeting the Urban Synergy graduates on the day”.
