Urban Synergy delivered a Corporate Insight Day hosted by Lloyds Banking Group on 20th October in the City of London. 50 students from St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College aged 16-18 years attended the event. Max Jones, Director of Infrastructure & Head of Construction at Lloyd’s Banking Group co-hosted the event. Leila Thomas, Urban Synergy’s CEO welcomed the keynote speaker Elsie Akinsanya, People Director for Corporate & Institutional Banking & Business & Commercial Banking.
Students learned about careers from Lloyd’s panellists and speed mentored with Lloyds Banking Group volunteers to learn about various departments and careers in the company including from the Managing Directors & Directors who took part in the Role Model panel: Ben Weland, Rita King, Annabel Finlay and Leah Henry. Students were surprised to hear of the various departments and roles in Lloyds Banking which included; Media & Telecoms, Healthcare, Food, Drink & Leisure and also Trade Sales.
100% of students learned about a career they were not aware of.
Student feedback:
‘This event was better than expected. Talking to Lloyd’s volunteers gave me a new perspective on banking careers. I now understand the transferable skills that banks and accountants value.’
‘I liked how people would not only just tell me about what they did but when I expressed what I wanted to do in my future career, they would help me figure out a pathway and lead me towards people in that sector.’
Thank you to Max Jones, Elsie Akinsanya, all of the Role Model panellists and speed mentor volunteers for their hospitality and volunteering their time to share information about the organisation and career insights.
