Ever wondered what goes on behind these scenes at Deliveroo? Urban Synergy recently hosted an inspiring Corporate Insight Day providing 30 Year 12 students from Prendergast Sixth Form based in Ladywell with a unique opportunity to explore career pathways within a dynamic corporate environment.
Exploring careers at Deliveroo
Students had the chance to step into the heart of the City of London and engage with professionals from a variety of sectors, including Technology, Legal, and Marketing. This provides student development insights behind the scenes at Deliveroo providing career exploration, exposure to corporate life and potential career paths.
Deliveroo corporate insight day for students
The agenda was packed with insightful sessions designed to broaden students’ career awareness and aspirations:
- Panel Discussion: Students listened to Deliveroo Role Models, including Shanice-Daniella Midda, Oke Omoniyi, Maimuna Lubega, Mai Elamin, and Damisi Adeyi, who shared their career journeys and experiences within the company.
- Interactive Activity: Led by Marisa Ford (City Manager), students participated in a Dragon’s Den-style challenge of opening a new restaurant and pitching to the panel.This encouraged students to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Speed Mentoring: In a fast-paced mentoring session, students sat with company volunteers from different departments, gaining career insights and valuable advice to help shape their futures.
- Networking & Reflection: The day concluded with group photographs, feedback discussions, and lunch, allowing students to process what they had learned and build connections with professionals.

This experience enabled students to:
- Gain exposure to corporate career opportunities.
- Develop essential skills through interactive learning activities.
- Enhance their confidence in networking and communication.
- Be inspired by role models and real-world career experiences.
Student Feedback
100% of the students reported learning of new career pathways, learned what skills are valued in the workplace, and left feeling more confident about their future careers.
- Really enjoyed the Dragon’s Den activity and being able to contribute in a team to come up with an idea to present. The feedback was useful as it enabled us to think more about the potential challenges we could face as well as how to respond to those. The networking session was also useful, we were able to gain an insight into the variety of careers in Deliveroo. The event was amazing, thank you!!
