NigelCorporate Insight Day

Urban Synergy delivered a Corporate Insight Day in partnership with Symphony at their London office on Wednesday 13th March.

It was an informative and eventful day for the 30 students aged 16-18 years from Christ the King St Mary’s Sixth Form College based in Sidcup, Kent. They were introduced to Sinead Lanyon, Global Head of the Marketing team and also Annie Jackson, Marketing Specialist at Symphony who advised what the team does in the company and also their career journeys. The students had the opportunity to speed mentor with Sinead and Annie and also meet;

  • Mittal Shah - Global Partnerships Marketing at Simcorp
  • Banke Adewale - VP Channel Marketing Manager at Pimco
  • Harjeet Singh - Senior Director, Marketing & Demand Gen Operations at Finastra

All of the Marketing specialists decoded various roles and responsibilities and also the different areas of marketing as well as their individual career journeys.

After lunch the students were introduced to Corinna Mitchell, General Counsel and some of her team members; David Farrugia, Associate Corporate Counsel and Carmen Garrido Dominguez, Paralegal all from Symphony. The students learned about the career journeys of the team and also their responsibilities at Symphony and then took part in a negotiation session where they played different roles as the seller and buyer. The students had to negotiate with each other and were each given goals to achieve, it became quite competitive! It was interesting to hear feedback from the students on what each of them achieved and who managed to secure the best terms and conditions.

It was an interesting day for the students for career insights while also learning negotiation skills. The students rated the event 4.8/5, 100% of the students learned about a career they were not aware of before and all learned skills valuable in the workplace and felt more confident about their futures.
