I came to know about Urban Synergy through my friend Stefan, and the idea of joining intrigued me. It sounded like a rewarding experience, and I believed it could significantly enhance my work exposure and strengthen my CV.
What opportunities have you gained through Urban Synergy and how has this impacted you?
Urban Synergy has allowed me to gain valuable work experience at UK Power Networks. This experience was incredibly interesting and insightful, giving me a deeper understanding of the electrical network industry and the role of electrical design engineers. This exposure has expanded my knowledge and sparked my interest in the field, thanks to Urban Synergy's support.
What has been the best part of the mentoring programme so far?
The best part of my mentoring programme was being able to ask for advice when I needed it. I believe the support I have received throughout the programme has been invaluable and given me a platform to learn more and improve my current skills.
Is there anything you’ve learned or any specific skills you've developed?
There are many things I’ve learned. I'm still in the process of developing electrician skills within my new apprenticeship, which I managed to secure with the help and guidance of Urban Synergy. I have brushed up on my interview skills and improved on building my CV.
Were you facing any particular challenges before joining the programme?
Before joining, I struggled with specific interviewing skills and building my CV. Now, I feel significantly more confident and well-prepared.
How did you feel at the end of your mentoring compared to the beginning?
At the beginning, I had uncertainties, but by the end, I felt empowered and well-equipped for job applications and interviews.
Has the mentoring programme helped you decide on your future career?
Absolutely, Urban Synergy's mentoring program has played a crucial role in helping me define my future career aspirations. I've gained insights into different roles and industries, providing clarity about my future direction
What are you up to at the moment and what are your goals for the future?
At the moment I’m currently studying electrical distribution and one of my current goals for the future is to pass my qualification with top marks.
What has been your proudest achievement so far?
My proudest achievement so far is gaining the ability to confidently apply for whatever career I choose to pursue, knowing I have the adequate skills and knowledge to prepare myself. I am proud of my journey so far, and look forward to more opportunities.
Do you have any advice for future mentees?
My advice for any future mentees is to trust yourself, trust the process and always apply yourself, keep your head up.
