Urban Synergy’s speed mentoring event recently brought a wave of career inspiration to Addey and Stanhope School. The session gave students the unique opportunity to engage in fast-paced mentoring with professionals from world-leading organizations, including Morningstar, London Stock Exchange, PwC, Google, Ford Motor Company, M&G and Doughty Street Chambers.
Connecting young people with industry professionals
Urban Synergy was delighted to deliver this event as part of our continued mission to provide underrepresented young people with the professional networks and career inspiration they need to succeed.
The sessions offered one hundred and twenty, 13-14 year old students the chance to connect with mentors, learn about a range of career paths, and gain insight into professional environments, providing exposure that many young people rarely receive at this stage. The session was particularly timely, as it took place during the students’ Options Week, when they decide which GCSE subjects to choose.
“I loved inspiring students today, I felt that they were very engaged and wanted to gain some insight on how to develop.” - Success, Chair of Urban Synergy Youth Council
From student to professional: The journey of alumnus
A highlight of the session was the return of Urban Synergy alumni. Hearing from former students who once sat in the same classrooms provided the ultimate career inspiration for Addey and Stanhope pupils.
Among them was Pascaline, now a Data, Measurement and Analytics Apprentice at Google who actually went to Addey & Stanhope School and Success, a Data Management Apprentice at M&G, who also serves as Chair of the Urban Synergy Youth Council.
Stories like these transform abstract ambition into something tangible. They prove that with the right networks and support, the transition from school to a top-tier professional career is within reach for everyone.
