Insight Day at Goldman Sachs

NigelCorporate Insight Day

Urban Synergy & Goldman Sachs co-hosted their first Corporate Insight Day together on Tuesday 21st November at the Goldman Sachs office in the City of London.

Rashid Abdulla - Managing Director, was the keynote speaker who talked to the students about what Goldman Sachs does and also his role and shared a video about life at Goldman Sachs.

30 students from Christ the King Sixth Form, St Mary’s based in Sidcup South London, attended the event where they heard from Role Models from different areas in the business:

  • Krystle Manuel-Countee - Content Specialist
  • Waithera Chege - Trading Strategist
  • Dubi Offonry - Sales (Electronic Trading)
  • Soinda Keen - Software Engineer

Speed Mentors from various roles and departments also shared their career insights and also explained what they do in their Goldman Sachs roles during the Speed Mentoring session. These events help students to see the different career paths that can be taken and the variety of roles available in organisations - in this case the Finance industry. It was interesting to hear that some of the panelists originated from Sudan, Kenya and Zimbabwe and some had been recruited by Goldman Sachs and were based in the USA before transferring to the Goldman Sachs office in the UK. Where possible it’s essential that diverse role models are represented in these types of events for many of the students to actually visualise themselves working in the industry.

Thank you to everyone at Goldman Sachs for hosting the event, particularly Greg Anthony, Taj Yusoof and Ethel Adongo.

We’ve featured some feedback from the students aged 16-18 yrs below. The students rated the event 4.8 out of 5
