Got what it takes to inspire Year 9, 10 and 11 schoolchildren to pursue academic excellence? Want to give something back to young people within your community? Can you spare a couple of hours to talk about the myths, benefits and challenges of university and what it takes to get there?
Following the success of school seminars during 2009, Urban Synergy has a busy programme of Think Further™ Academic Seminars to be delivered at various schools in the Lewisham area during the new school year starting September 2010. As a voluntary organisation, we rely on the generosity of volunteer supporters like you and we’re currently seeking recent graduates and current undergraduates to inspire future students towards academic success. As part of our ‘bank’ of role models, you’ll be able to take part in any number of planned seminars for the year – seminars usually are held on a weekday evening during term time.
To be a seminar panelist, you’ll more than likely be:
- A recent graduate, with a 1st Class, 2.1 or 2.2 Honours degree OR
- An undergraduate in your second or final year at a well-known, top British university
- Confident about speaking publicly and keen to tell pupils the real deal
- From a black minority ethnic or dual heritage background
There’s little more satisfying than being able to help give a young person confidence that they can ‘think further’ and achieve their goals for life. Being a panelist on one of our seminars is inspiring to others and will inspire you so don’t hesitate to find out more or request an application form.
The deadline for applications to be received is 31st August 2010. Please use the Contact Us form to provide your contact details
