Mentees attending the Nextwealth conference at the Royal Institution in London

Urban Synergy was proud to be the official charity partner of NextWealth, attending this year’s exclusive networking event at the prestigious Royal Institution. This highly anticipated day brought together leading figures from corporations, high-net-worth individuals, and financial services experts.

Eight Urban Synergy alumni were present representing the charity, together with our Business Development Manager, networking, promoting our initiatives, and sharing our mission with attendees, while also inspiring hope for the next generation of leaders in finance.

“This was my second year attending and somehow it was even better than the first.” - Shiven, A Level Student, John Hampden Grammar School

The future of financial advice

The day featured insightful discussions, debates, and career inspiration. Highlights included the CEO Big Debate, chaired by Peter Mann (NextWealth), with leaders responsible for over £320 billion in client assets, exploring the question: “How do we reach the 91%?” With only 9% of the UK receiving financial advice, the discussions underscored the importance of accessible guidance for all.

Sessions on retail lessons, AI in the workplace, and innovative approaches to bridging the advice gap, particularly for women and new entrants, offered practical and thought-provoking insights. Oxford-style debates and fireside chats explored growth, trust in financial advice, and the future of investment flows, emphasizing personalised, advice-led approaches over products alone.

Networking with industry leaders at the Royal Institution

For Urban Synergy’s young participants, the day was an invaluable opportunity to network with industry leaders, explore careers in finance, and showcase the charity’s mission to promote opportunity and inclusion.

“A huge thank you to Urban Synergy and NextWealth, and to everyone I met yesterday who was so lovely and helpful. It was an incredibly interesting day with so many conversations to reflect on.” - Demi, Data Analytics Course Student
