Exploring Media Careers at Corporate Insight Day with DMG Media

Students from St. Charles Catholic Sixth Form had an exciting opportunity to explore careers in media during the Insight Day with DMG Media. The event gave students hands-on exposure to the media industry, the chance to connect with professional role models, and inspiration to shape their future career ambitions.

The day began with a welcome from Dianne Johnson, Head of Programmes and Engagement at Urban Synergy, followed by an overview of DMG Media from Simon Duke, Managing Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs. Students learned about the company, its leadership, and the variety of brands under the DMG umbrella.

DMG Media emphasised engaging with the platforms the younger generation uses to consume news and information, such as TikTok. Students were encouraged to attend events, seek work experience, read widely, and follow the news, showing that passion and initiative often matter more than prior work experience.

Hands-On Learning and Video Insights

Students explored the world of video content with Lisa Snell, Executive Global Head of Video, and gained insight into recruitment and career pathways with Steve Martin, Head of Recruitment.

Speed Mentoring and Career Guidance

The highlight of the Insight Day with DMG Media was speed mentoring, where students met one-on-one with mentors for 10-minute sessions. Mentors; Antonia Fox, Catherine de Lange, Steve Martin, Rebecca Holland, Simon Duke and Albert Bynorth, all shared their career journeys, industry experiences, and valuable advice. These conversations gave students a clear understanding of the skills, mindset, and determination needed to succeed in media.
