Students from Christ the King Aquinas Sixth Form in Brockley visited FTI Consulting’s London offices for an unforgettable Corporate Insight Day, co-hosted by Urban Synergy’s Head of Programmes Dianne Johnson and FTI’s Corporate Citizenship Associate, Shanyce Morris.
From the moment students arrived at the Corporate Insight Day with FTI Consulting, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and curiosity. The day began with an inspiring keynote from Jon Chan, Senior Managing Director and Partner, who shared his personal career journey, showing students that success often comes from making bold choices and learning along the way and not following paths that other people might select for you.
Learning from industry Role Models
Students were introduced to Hillary McDonald, Corporate Citizenship Senior Manager, who gave an overview of FTI Consulting’s mission and spoke about her own professional path. Her story set the tone for the day: perseverance, passion, and purpose can take you far.
Next came a panel of outstanding role models from across FTI’s diverse divisions:
Director, Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic & Litigation Consulting, Core Operations and Consultants, Strategic Communications. The panel decoded what consulting looks like across different industries, offered practical advice on building a successful career and advocated for exploring careers in consulting.
Hands-On learning and mentoring
The speed mentoring session gave students the chance to sit down with professionals from FTI Consulting, ask questions, and explore the variety of roles that exist within consulting. Conversations were lively, insightful, and packed with practical tips.
After lunch, Doris Webb, Early Careers Senior Recruiter, led a CV and LinkedIn workshop, helping students understand how to present their skills effectively and navigate recruitment processes. The students then took part in an assessment type activity, something that may be used as part of the recruitment process in early careers “Become a Consultant” challenge, working in teams to design an app solution for a theme park, testing their creativity, teamwork, and presentation skills.
