At 14, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t know what career path to take, or even how to start. Then I joined Urban Synergy, and everything changed. Their mentoring programme gave me access to industry professionals, hands-on experiences, and the confidence to step into the world of work.

Now, at 21, I’m finishing my apprenticeship at UK Power Networks, and I owe a huge part of my success to what I learned with them.

Confidence is Everything

Before joining Urban Synergy, I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take. The programme helped me build confidence through networking events, mock interviews, and real-world insights. Learning how to present myself professionally was a game-changer.

The right Mentor makes a difference

Having a mentor completely shifted my perspective. They gave me an inside look at the corporate world, helping me understand what to expect and how to prepare. More importantly, they helped me discover a career path that I actually enjoy.

Opportunities come when you put yourself Out There

Urban Synergy didn’t just guide me—they gave me real opportunities. From networking events to workplace visits, I met incredible professionals who shared their knowledge and experience. These opportunities helped shape my future and led me to my apprenticeship.

Growth doesn’t stop when the programme ends

Even though I’ve completed my mentoring programme, I’m still part of Urban Synergy’s amazing projects. I now help spread the word about their impact and continue to develop my skills, ensuring I become the best electrician I can be.

Stay focused—Success takes time

If I could give one piece of advice to future mentees, it would be this: stay focused and keep learning. Success isn’t instant, but if you aim high and stay dedicated, the right opportunities will come your way.

Thanks to Urban Synergy, I’ve figured out what it takes to succeed, and I’m excited to keep growing in my career. If you’re thinking about joining, take the leap—you won’t regret it.
